Trending YouTube videos with millions and billions of likes, shares, dislikes for a numerable period, having heavy digit followers on Twitter, getting listed in the annual compilation of Celebrity 100 is one kind for popularity. But, popularity on a deeper note, is not just that. It means breaking the mortalities of space and time. Recognition, unparalleled to the Gods, is the icon: Michael Jackson. The International Dance King boundlessly inspired and unleashed the skill beasts from even the kids of the slums, immovable sloths, and beat deaf men.

This legend needs no introduction, whosoever is the audience, needs no lectures on the track of his accomplishments made, and none the less needs no justification on why he is the most popular personality on earth.

Do you think of yourself as some Michael Jackson”, “ Wow, he dances like Michael Jackson”,   are by far the common and often heard criticism or applauds given to and taken from,  when someone tries to shake their legs or twist their hips. He is in the tips of people’s tongues, an undying brand. I bet, there is no person on earth who has never tried doing the Moonwalk at least once in their lifetime.

I have read a story that, when Michael was searching for a house, which later became the Neverland Ranch, he visited various places and even went somewhere in the mountains to find a secluded place. An old man saw him and said “Wow, you’re Michael Jackson.” Even a person in a place that seemed out of this world knew him.

Michael Jackson is that celebrity who has traversed the physical limits of human kind. After a decade of his death, the King of Pop is the highest paid dead celebrities. Needless to say, he is the only musician to have ever won the greatest number of awards. He has 23 Guinness World Records, 40 Billboard Awards, 13 Grammys, and 26 American Music Awards. He is the first black artist to be aired on MTV for his song “Billie Jean”. His album “Thriller” is the best selling album of all time with around 65 million copies worldwide. He is also the first International star to perform in post – Soviet Russia. An article on CNN Breaking News mentioned that “For Russians, America was like another planet and Michael Jackson was the king of that planet … he, was seen as the face of the crazy American life.”

England’s Times Online reported that the 750,000 tickets to Jackson’s 50 planned “This Is It” concerts at London’s O2 Arena sold at a rate of 11 per second, or about 40,000 per hour. Michael Jackson has a legion of die-hard fans and even followers who have made careers out of being his imposters.

Despite several controversies regarding his skin tone, plastic surgeries, child abuse allegations and other chapters of his personal life, his talent is undeniable, and his popularity still endures.
