Keanu Reeves–“You’re Breathtaking”
This is now a fact of life: Keanu became the internet’s new favourite character, everyone’s favourite “badass good guy”. For the past few years, Keanu Reeves has been very popular on social media. Many people have reported that he is a very nice guy, gives a lot back to the community, and despite being popular, he’s a very chill dude and is hardly ever rude to fans. If you ask the internet about Keanu, the answer would be “He’s all about praising others for their kindness, compassion and willingness to help the world around them.” But what makes Keanu Reeves so likeable? What is his secret for always staying down-to-earth? “Gravity” as Keanu once said.
We could talk about his fame gained for his starring roles in several blockbuster films, or other forms of artistry that is has pursued, including stage acting, music performing, and directing, but it is not our point. We’re here to talk about his legend.
There are a lot of conspiracy theories on the internet, but only one can be considered as a fact: Keanu Reeves is immortal, as proven one the https://www.keanuisimmortal.com/ website.
In 2010, an image of Reeves became an internet meme after photos of him, seemingly depressed while sitting on a park bench eating alone. The images were soon distributed via several blogs and news sites, leading to the creation of an unofficial holiday when a Facebook fan page declared June 15 as “Cheer-up Keanu Day.”
On a more serious note, Keanu Reeves performs a lot of his own stunts as seen recently in the John Wick franchise. Doing your own stunts is a pretty big deal and not because it’s considered to be awesome. If the actor is harmed or seriously injured, the production grinds to a halt and the cast and crew find themselves out of work. However, Keanu Reeves continues to do the majority of his own stunt work as he trains throughout the year, even when he’s not preparing for a role.
One major element that makes Keanu’s legend so inspiring for the internet is his sad past. At age 3 his father left, then he attended 4 different high schools and struggle with dyslexia. At age 23, his best friend River Phoenix (Joaquin’s brother) died of a drug overdose. In 1999, the love of his life, Jennifer Syma, was pregnant with their daughter but the child was born stillborn, costing them their relationship. 18 months later, while Keanu was scheduled to begin shooting back-to-back Matrix sequels, Jennifer was killed in a car accident. In 2014, he said in an interview that his sister Kim had battled leukemia for more than a decade
Yes… Keanu, the “cool breeze over the mountains” as his name means in Hawaii, went through a lot of trials and tribulations. But still, even if life hit him hard, Keanu Reeves kept hope in humanity and did a lot of charities. He set up a cancer charity, choosing not to attach his name to the organization. Keanu has also supported PETA, the SickKids Foundation, and Stand Up to Cancer. He has stated “Money is the last thing I think about. I could live on what I have already made for the next few centuries.”
So what makes someone popular? Is it money? Power? Fame? Badbuzz? That kind of popularity is just smoke and mirrors. Being praised for your kindness and simplicity is, by far, a more honorable way to be popular. In 2019, for people all over the internet, this is what Keanu Reeves has accomplished.
